The issue of waterboarding has already been defined as torture. Even John McCain has said that. Geez!

Waterboarding is much like man-made global warming. There are three schools of thought, and three camps adhering to each. Those that believe the definition (proof) is accepted; those that do not have an opinion on whether or not the definition (proof) is accepted; and those that absolutely feel the definition (proof) is totally inaccurate and not at all accepted.

So I guess that it depends on whom you ask whether waterboarding is defined as torture or not. That said, I don't personally care for any physically coercive techniques. However, if I were ever in a position where someone thought I might have information they had to extract, I'd vote any day for waterboarding over the methods commonly used by those we are fighting.

Save your condescending comments for someone who is impressed by your attitude.

The torture technique used by the Vietnamese involves the person being tied with his hands behind his back. They then tie a rope through their wrist bindings and throw it over a beam in the ceiling. They then pull the rope until the person is hanging almost upside down and as their wight pulls against the tendons, ligaments, and muscles their shoulders slowly and painfully dislocate. Is that more accurate for you?

As far as McCain's position on water boarding, several of the soldiers who shared the experience with him in the Hanoi Hilton find his position on this subject shameful.

So, I once again ask you to watch the video and compare. Make your own decision. My intent was to give people a chance to see what water boarding really looked like and you have the right to your opinion, but don't suggest it is fact or truth for everyone.

They are certainly welcome to, and more than justified in their opinion. I just think that McCain is a truly fine man with a big heart. A lot I disagree with him about politically, especially McCain-Feingold and some illegal immigrant issues, but none the less a man of great character. Where this issue is concerned, I believe that he simply cannot remove what happened to him from the circumstances and details of ANY enhanced interrogation techniques.

They are a unique fraternity, and have the right to establish and judge by their own standards. I would never presume the right to label him shameful on this issue, though.
