I didn't single out a whole race - I mentioned what happened at an event. I would have gone into the statistical implications, but that would be above your education level, and I quoted comments by several blacks themselves. I didn't hold it up as definitive, but rather possibly indicative, and puzzling. You can't see the connection between patriotism, and attending a well-publicized, cheap, elaborate local patriotic event on the 4th of July?? THAT'S puzzling, too.

The main sponsors were Target (the discount store) and the local newspaper. What does that have to do with it?

The main performing group was the pacific symphony orchestra. Also, there was a 25 minute fireworks display. To pay for this, and rent a 16,000 seat venue on a holiday, there wouldn't have been any "proceeds" - except for sponsors it would be a money-losing event.

Well by insinuating that Blacks as a single ethnic group, are not patriotic when compared to other ethnic groups. It would lead one to believe that you are picking on an entire race of several million people in this country indicated my presense or absence from a single event that you happened to attend.

Fair enough, but I will disagree on your sentiments of cheap. That is over $100 for a family of 4. For that I can feed my family quite well at home with family and friends enjoying our own company and fireworks.

This makes it even more surprising, especially a major retailer and the media requiring a stiff entrance fee.

Gotta tell ya, Im not a big symphony fan. Makes me go to sleep. I wouldnt have went to this event. Probably not, even if it was free.

I spent the first half of the 4th on the boat with my family and crew having a bbq, and shooting off fireworks. I spent the second half fishing, and had a damn fine day actually. Delivered 13,240lbs of sockeye salmon...Pretty good payday for me at $.80cents a pound.

Is it possible you are making a mountain out of a mole hill with this whole thing?

They MADE American history
They served in the military
They went to my church
They didn't hate anyone
They owned their own farms
They incorporated their farms
They served with Jews in various civic organizations and never had a bad word to say against them.
They WERE rich
They KNEW the President (Johnson AND Carter)
They WERE rural southerners
They flew the flag every day
They busted their asses to employ as many "lower class working people", including blacks, as they could in order to keep them off the welfare rolls.

They couldn't stand Castro, and every Soviet they ever heard of,

I think liberals in east coast and left coast are not the same as liberals in the mid west and in the south. I would call them democrats for the most part.

I think of the crazy lunes in New York, California, Washington State and my horrid home state of Oregon, where they would fight to protect a baby rapist and help you kill your baby in the 9th month of pregnancy.

I think it would be hard to find a Midwestern or southern democrat to defend a baby rapist like the libs in NY and left coast would run to do. The ideas on religion are different, everything is different. They are in the same party but not of the same mindset. IMO
