While We Sit and Play

America is the land of richness and prosperity, but the same can't be said for South African countries. While we sit in our fine leather chairs and watch our children play in the sandbox in front of our beautiful houses, children are dying of starvation in poor countries because their mommy and daddy have to work 18 hours a day in the fields beneath the scorching sun just to have enough rice for a small meal. We need to do something and fast to fix this large gap in western civilization and African poverty.

We should promote organizations such as UNICEF and Children International that help the dying children who are in great need for help. The first five years of a child's life is key to their mental and physical growth and requires nourishment in areas such as health, education, nutrition, community, and family, and the children in poor African nations simply aren't getting enough. Children are the world's future, and right now, the future in these nations aren't looking too bright.

You may think that if we sit around long enough, they will help themselves, but that isn't true. The poor lifestyle of these African nations is a death-trap life-cycle—some children starve to death when they are young, barely receiving food and water, the ones don't probably receive little, if any, education, the ones that mature and have families usually cannot support them, and the cycle repeats itself. It is a harsh cycle, but we can step in and stop it.

So I am asking all of you to please help and contribute in any small way. Sites such as CLICK TO GIVE are great examples of an easy way to donate to great causes. Clicking to save a life is absolutely worth it, so don't hold back. Help now before any more helpless die!

www.kiva.org is my favorite. It is loans to people who are working hard to better their own lives. I think that is the key.
