America has three major political factions- the left wing, the right wing and the fright wing. The fright wing is composed of the lunatic fringe who don't appreciate America's civil and peaceful method of regime change by elections every 4 years. They have irrational fears that demand irrational action right now.
The term lunatic fringe was coined by Teddy Roosevelt to describe the wingnuts of his day, like the one who assassinated his predecessor, President William McKinley. During their administrations, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Eisenhower, and Reagan were all called either communist or socialist traitors by the far right and Ronald Reagan was compared to Hitler by the far left.
Today's wingnuts are primed and pumped up by talk show hosts such as Glenn Beck, a drug and alcohol abuser and self-described borderline schizophrenic with suicidal tendencies, and Rush Limbaugh who has been in rehabilitation 3 times for his addiction to Oxycontin.
Running on negative produces stress in anyone. However when both these men returned from their rehabilitations they returned to negative rhetoric - no doubt due to the lucrative income produced by such negative and hawkish talk.
Their listeners however receive no such lucrative rewards. Instead they receive irrational fears they feel demand immediate action and this leaves them vulnerable to the very forces that created their alienation in the first place. They are being manipulated by corporate Republicans to oust the Democrats, and as soon as the corporation supporting Republicans are back in office, their romance with with fright wing will be over and they will be back to business as usual. De-regulating corporations and lowering taxes on the super-rich.
