I put this in "Politics" because that is where the greatest number of offenders of poorly-used words reside.

My first suggestion is-- DISENFRANCHISED

Well--I would agree--except, it does catch the eye of readers and can be described as a "hook" in the business of eye-catching, eye-popping, lip-smacking, mouth-watering phrases.

Hence--it occasional use, hackneyed though it may well be.
