A summary of new stories from 2/13/14
Oregon ObamaCare Website Hasn't Signed up a Single Person
Despite receiving $160 million in taxpayer money, Oregon's ObamaCare website has yet to properly sign up a single person for health care.
And there could be consequences. An Oregon legislator has gone to the FBI. Top officials have resigned. The state is investigating. And there could be a federal probe as soon as Thursday.
It wasn't supposed to be like this. With a strong high-tech community in Portland and a progressive reputation, Oregon was an early, enthusiastic adopter of the Affordable Care Act. The state has been working toward a health care exchange since 2002 and was one of the first states to pass a law creating one.
More than $300 million in federal dollars have come to Oregon from taxpayers all over the country, in the form of grants with names like the "Early Innovator Grant." Oregon ranks third among all states in grants to implement the ACA, despite being near the middle in population.
Still, the website doesn't work.
Healthcare Exchange Director Accused of Stealing From Non-profit
DENVER – A director with Colorado's health-care exchange is on paid leave after it was discovered she has been accused of stealing from a nonprofit housing organization she oversaw in Montana.
Christa McClure is the director of partner engagement for Connect for Health Colorado, the state program that implements the Affordable Care Act.
According to the Denver Post, program spokesman Ben Davis says in her Colorado job, McClure does not have access to any of exchange's finances.
Illinois Obamacare Aimed at Gold Diggers and Momma's Boys
SPRINGFIELD, Ill – Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Illinois’ Obamacare peddlers are telling people the quickest way to find a date is with an insurance card.
The same people responsible for selling Obamacare with action figures via The Onion have released a new study aimed, apparently, at gold diggers and momma’s boys.
“When it comes to pursuing a relationship, a new survey shows that for many Illinoisans, health insurance is an important factor,” reads a statement from Get Covered Illinois, the state’s Obamacare managers. “More than two thirds (67 percent) of those surveyed listed having health coverage as something they value when starting a relationship, more so than the other person owning the latest technology, owning a dog, or having a tattoo.”
In other words, skip the small talk on the first date and just get to the details about your deductible and prescription drug coverage.
Dems Distancing Themselves From Obamacare Disaster
Just two years ago, Florida Democratic Rep. Joe Garcia was calling ObamaCare a “strong, affordable health care system” -- but amid the health care overhaul’s troubled rollout, he's changing his tune.
A Democratic Super PAC has launched an ad on Garcia’s behalf touting him as a lawmaker who “took the White House to task” over the “disastrous” rollout of the health law’s website, and says he is working to fix ObamaCare. The House Majority PAC ad also says Garcia supported legislation to let Americans keep the health plan they like.
Garcia is the latest in a growing list of vulnerable congressional Democrats who are distancing themselves from the law as they face re-election in November.

We're not even going to discuss Obama's usurpation of constitutional authority.
