you snooze, you lose

Seems if you were not one of the 100K who managed to get in the program its tough sh*t for you. The door is getting slammed in your face.

All this ado over 100K cases ? Obamacare is absolutely the most expensive way in the world to address this.

Hope none of you were foolish enough to believe any of this malarkey. And who is blowing the whistle on this ? WaPo. They seem to want to survive by returning to some semblance of journalism.

Tens of thousands of Americans who can’t get health insurance due to pre-existing medical problems will be blocked from a program designed to help them because funding for the measure is running low.

Obama administration officials said Friday that the state-based “high risk pools” set up under the 2010 health-care law will be closed to new applicants as soon as Saturday and no later than March 2, depending on the state.

However, they stressed that coverage for about 100,000 people who are currently enrolled in the high risk pools won’t be affected.

I have long held the opinion that ObamaCare would become so expensive that new rules will implemented to make it more affordable to the government. Soon the regulations will become as complex as the Income Tax code. So suddenly a program Obama sold to the liberal public with the concept that it is universal health care, will become a bureaucratic mess with many pockets of people being left out. It's starting.

starting ? it was to insure that EVERYONE would be "insured" but right off the bst millions would be left out.

As usual all it delivers is a massive genetation of federal "jobs" (or dem votes) and massivly higher taxes and worse care.

as predicted.

Say it isn't so - the free stuff wasn't really free and they ran out of someone else's money to spend? Wow, how could that happen to free stuff?

I was reading where a lot of doctors won't even mess with insurance. Cash only and on retainer to boot.

I guess only the 1% and politicans will be able to get it.

nothing new about this but any doc who is at the top of the pecking order will be adopting this if they're not already there.

I'll bet their fees will be lower too - not having to mess with all the paperwork of government and insurance companies. I like the idea of being able to tell a doctor that I don't want the mole he just removed tested for cancer. I can't afford it and really don't care! Power to the Patient.

I grew up without insurance. When we needed to see the doctor we paid cash.

But get those moles checked. I personally know of two cases that ended badly.

Obamacare is not going to address the basis of the health care crisis, which is cost. That much was predictable from the start. So, now there isn't enough money to cover all of the high risk people.
But, what is going to happen to them? Are they simply going to be allowed to die? No, we all know that isn't the case. They will, instead, have low quality care at high prices through emergency room service, which cost will still be passed on to the rest of us.

Everyone else has universal care. Everyone else pays far less. We could do even better than everyone else by having a UHC that covered everyone for unaffordable costs and left doctor's visits to the individual.

But, no, we'll continue to debate, to spin wheels, to cry "socialism" while the country goes bankrupt due to health care costs. How sad.

not really. they pocket the savings and the people who can self insure are not concerned about lab fees.

LOL @ the dumb Americans. Try the up here, and the doctor gets his licence to practise revoked, and possible jail time.

You DO realise that, when your insurance company pays for certain medical expenses, they do so with OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY, yes? You DO understand how insurance works, yes? An insurance company POOLS all monies received from their clients, from which money is paid out. That is EXACTLY what our own government does. The only difference between our system and your own is the fucking MIDDLEMAN. Yours is the insurance company. Ours is the government. One difference though. BY LAW all Canadians MUST be treated, regardless of any pre-existing conditions, regardless of their financial position. American scum PROFIT from the poor health of their people. Canadians do not.
