marcellus, et al,
There is some truth to this; but drawing the wrong conclusion.

Of course the US and its citizens are growing tired of wars. That much is probably true. But I doubt that they (the US Citizens) will blame Israel for its troubles or the outcome in Iraq.
This is not to say that an ever growing number of Americans are coming to recognize that Israel is not a true ally (Remember the USS Liberty). Israel will act in their own best interest, even if that means hurting the United States.

Irrelevant. While this might have some importants to non-Americans, in the context of a "true American," ancestry is of little to no importance. It is about who you are and what you do. Deeds are what is important.

- WMD presents a threat when in the hands of a rouge government or non-state actors. It is a concern to every major nation.
- Yes, we know all about the PNAC and the impact that it had on the national security decision making process. But it has no real connection to the Jewish Ancestry of the leadership involved. The leadership was incompetent and extremely arrogant. They tended to dismiss, distort and deny critical elements of information that tended to question the agenda they had. It lead to both unsound and invalid critical thinking. This happens from time to time with key official that believe themselves to be above the capacity of making a mistake. This happened with the "Whiz Kids" in the 1960's and Vietnam.
- The purpose was to establish a "hegemony" for the US. While it might have made a difference to the settlement between the Palestinians and Israelis, its real intent was to set the base of power for the US.
- AIPAC is a problem, but there are several lobbies that pose similar problems. AIPAC poses more of a problem to the overall Israeli relationship with the US, in that non-members will begin to gradually turn against it as a threat controlled by a foreign power.

This is nonsense (respectfully). Americans simply don't think in these terms. This is just fear mongering.
Eventually, US support to Israel will be irrelevant. The US will no longer be able to afford intervention in the Middle East conflict; either on the pro-Israeli side or the pro-Palestinian side. The US is turning into an economic disaster and will not be able to maintain its military superiority. Without that military superiority, it will no longer be "persuasive in peace - or - invincible in war."
Most Respectfully - An Opposing View,
