I grew up in democrat household.  My grandfather was very political and closely connected with leading Arkansas democrats in his day.  He and my uncle both served as deacons at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, frequented by Bill Clinton when he was governor.  My grandfather took fishing trips with Wilbur Mills and my grandfather took my mom with him to one of JFK's invitation only inaugural balls in 1961. My grandfather had a plum politically appointed job for life thanks to his connections with leading democrat politicians.

I changed political affiliation after I got saved.  The world is composed of sinners both saved and lost.  Lost sinners who got involved in politics tended to vote democrat because of what the democrats stood for.  I favored republicans because of their tendency to favor Christians and Christian values more than did democrats.
