This initiative is supposed to address corruption-related issues. The logic is simple. Businesses or unions fund politicians because they want something in return when that person is elected. Donor logos on politicians would make them less eager to do something for their donors because everyone would know they are repaying a debt [so to say].

So if legislators aren't controlled by donors no issues will be prioritized because some business or union gave the politicians some money.

Signatures will be collected and if enough of them are collected the proposal will qualify for the general election.

If the Californians get it done, I hope it spreads elsewhere as this would probably kill the Corporatocracy.

What a dumb idea. All donations are already reported in regular campaign finance reports. I find the people that complain the loudest about donations are those that are unable to raise any money.

Credible candidates can raise money.

It wouldn't be such a bad thing for the donors. They'll be getting some free advertising. And if they want something done for them they'll could still get it. After all they'll have some of their people doing some lobbying.

Again, if you want see who has donated to a campaign simply check the campaign finance reports.

As for lobbying, it is not illegal - we are all free to petition our government for redress of grievances. As with campaign finance, the people that complain the loudest about lobbying are the people that generally just got out-lobbied on a particular issue. It is not that they were shut out of the system, it is just that their idea lost. Instead of recognizing the obvious they think their is a flaw in the system.
