Interesting article - movies being a political litmus test. Using movies to test your humor bias is a bit time consuming. However a quick study is political cartoons. My paper has about 1 conservative cartoon for every 4 liberal cartoons, but that is still a large percentage compared to movies. Both sides of the spectrum can be amusing if the cartoon is truly fair. However if the cartoon is based on an exaggeration or an extremist viewpoint - either liberal or conservative, then I groan.I like Jon Stewart's Daily Show, but he goes too far sometimes by assuming the remote TV audience is rabidly liberal. His liberal studio audience is always amused. He is at his best when his short film segments show a juxtaposition of political hypocrisy. He took great joy in his "Indecision-2008" where a dozen democratic candidates endlessly debated. Bill Maher is great 75% of the time, but I have seen some jokes that were met with silence or soft boos from his studio audience (and myself).
