Double Exports

BO thinks we can double our exports over the next five years. That is certainly doable if government was constrained by the Constitution and taxes were cut dramatically, but we all know that ain't happen.

Does BO actually have a plan to double exports or is it just more talk?

How about we export our libs and progressives? That should help our economy big time.

Obama Sets Ambitious Export Goal

WASHINGTON — In promising Wednesday night to double the United States’ export growth over the next five years, President Obama set an ambitious goal for American trade policy that, he said, could create two million jobs.

The trouble, trade experts say, is that meeting that goal would require the president to engage in a fight to the death with the liberal wing of his own party, persuade China to allow its currency to appreciate 40 percent, get global economic growth to outperform the salad days from 2003 to 2007, and lower taxes for American companies that do business abroad.

And, while he is at it, forget about strengthening the dollar in the foreseeable future.

The biggest buyer (China) is reducing their imports while "The One" is wanting to double our exports.....

Like all things obama, one must have a great deal of faith to think it will work.

Actually, by weakening the dollar, it makes our exports more attractive to other countries. Every time we hit a recession, our exports rise as a result. If anything, Obama is signaling that he is aware of the fact that his policies will deepen our recession, which will continue for at least another 5 years, and further sink the dollar.

So unlike his other "plans", this one might actually work.

The plan as stated was to lead the world in "green tech" which would have the effect of expanding exports.

But if he thinks this will come on the wings of turbines and batteries he's going to be disappointed. China has already ginned up to be the low cost provider of turbines so unless he believes we can make turbines that are actually self sufficient that little dream is already dead. And batteries ? Have to have something to charge them and the best options are clean coal and realistically, nuclear. And we know thats going to he killed with regulation.

We DO need to innovate and energy is the direction but turbines and solar panels just are NOT going to cut it. Find a workable means of harassing tidal water movement and you'll have something. Find a better way to extract hydrogen and you'll have something. Find a better way to turn low-sulfer western coal into a gas-like liquid and yu'll have something. Or any other ideas that I'm too ignorant or stupid to have a clue about.

But first of all, you have to unleash american enterprize, not restrict it. Its always been the key to our awesome success.
