There is no reason why the God who balances perfectly the concepts of justice, holiness, and mercy has to demand blood payment. He could simply have stated in a pretty loud voice (in all languages), "I forgive all of you!" This is God for God's sake, torture, murder, and suffering? For what? He has a deep need to be appeased with blood? Punishing an innocent for the guilty? The story is so contradictorily unbelievable that it's... unbelievable. It's like you have no faith in the goodness of God, that you'll believe any kind of blasphemy about Him without question. What about all that other stuff in the Bible, do you believe He ordered all that too? Genocide, slavery, child molesting, selling children, and the taking of women as spoils of war?
