I guess they need another boost ala Toyota

they could at least show a little creativity, stuck accelerators ? again ? really ?

DETROIT (AP) - Federal safety regulators are investigating complaints that accelerators can stick in Ford (F) Tauruses from model years 2005 and 2006.

The investigation, opened Wednesday, covers an estimated 360,000 of the sedans. The probe could lead to a recall, but so far none has been ordered by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a federal safety agency. The investigation does not include a nearly identical car, the Mercury Sable.

NHTSA said on its website that 14 people have complained about the problem. No crashes or injuries have been reported. Drivers have reported that it was hard to stop the car with brakes. Several said they had to shut off the engine or shift into neutral to stop. One driver ran a red light and entered an intersection before the car could be stopped.

Hey, Obama can now just tax people if they don't buy from Government Motors. Thanks Roberts.

The black helicopters are out to get them you know, better get in the Glenn Beck Bunker with your freeze dried foods! The Right can't pull of sarcasm and jokes anymore...because its now what really believe.

hmmm lets see...

Toyota was selling lots of cars, GM was not, and then they were accused of having problems with stuck throttles. after lots of bad PR (and the corresponding hit in sales) it was found that there really wasn't a problem as it could not be duplicated by anyone.

yeah that all adds up doesn't it ?

Perhaps if you think that the government wants to carry out such a plan, and if you believe that they have the smarts to do it and keep it quiet.

Like most of the "governmentdidit" sorts of conspiracy theories, this one ignores the inherent incompetence of government.

they did not attempt to keep it quiet, quite the opposite. making it public maintained the negative PR.

The government admitted that they were behind forcing GM competitors to recall vehicles?
I don't recall hearing about that one.

they pressured the investigations for a year longer than needed and forced Toyota to do a recall for a meaningless alteration when there was zero evidence of an actual defect. noone was ever able to duplicate the problem.

The Toyota Affair was as transparent as anything in many years.
A frame job--par excellance.
