Obama said he might wait on taxing the wealthy, but he said he was going to use that money to get healthcare. Does this mean healthcare would wait?

He has also said in the past that taxing the rich does not stifle growth but he said yesterday that he won’t raise the taxes on the rich if the economy is bad, suggesting such an increase would further hurt the economy.

WASHINGTON — Democrat Barack Obama says he would delay rescinding President Bush’s tax cuts on wealthy Americans if he becomes the next president and the economy is in a recession, suggesting such an increase would further hurt the economy.
Nevertheless, Obama has no plans to extend the Bush tax cuts beyond their expiration date, as Republican John McCain advocates. Instead, Obama wants to push for his promised tax cuts for the middle class, he said in a broadcast interview aired Sunday.
“Even if we’re still in a recession, I’m going to go through with my tax cuts,” Obama said. “That’s my priority.”
What about increasing taxes on the wealthy?
“I think we’ve got to take a look and see where the economy is. I mean, the economy is weak right now,” Obama said on “This Week” on ABC. “The news with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, I think, along with the unemployment numbers, indicates that we’re fragile.”

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama on Tuesday offered a plan to provide health care to millions of Americans and more affordable medical insurance, financed by tax increases on the wealthy.

Here is an issue. A real Obama issue. Not lipstick, not pigs not what some crazy dem woman said about Palin

here in this thread is a couple of points. He said he wants health care and will pay for it by taxing the rich, yet he says if the economy is bad he wont tax the rich. So your health care will depend on the economy and none of his supporters care?

another point in this thread is that he has said that taxing the rich doesn't hurt the economy but now he is saying he wont tax them if the economy is bad. is that talking out both sides of his mouth.

here is a real issue for those who complain we never talk about real issues. Health care is what he beat the drum on for months now he quietly says it may not happen and no one cares?

Just so you know McCain also said Lipstick on a pig like 2 times, at least 1 time in reference to H. Clinton talking about her health care plan...Funny he acts offended about worthless crap the he himself said.

That said, if it has to be cut back so be it, but I want to see real changes made, and a clear plan to get there. I dont expect a snap of the fingers and its all set, but the system is horribly broke and needs fixing now.

Thats it? 19 months of promising health care and just like that in some interview he lets it out that he is not going to do it. Thats it, oh well..

I guess good intentions really is what its all about

Of the 45 million without healthcare INSURANCE (as opposed to being without Healthcare) just 18% are unable to afford or qualify for Government programs - 8.1 million... Which accounts for less than 3% of our population, hardly a doomsday scenario warranting a Socialist takeover of our healthcare system.

Guess I was one of the 3%? I have not had health care for (95% of the last 8 years or so.

My point in this topic is this.

He preached that this is something he is going to do since he started running for president. He convinced a number of Clinton supporters to go his way because he said he will follow through with health care, he even promised Edwards he would.

but now just in passing he says he isnt going to target the funding he said he was to get this product for his voters.

If he can just in passing give up a main thing in his platform, what other promisses will he give up in passing in some interview.

and the other issue is that he is a flat liar.

He first said raising taxes on the wealthy will not hurt the economy and now he is saying it will.

but no one calls him on this crap, it makes me so mad that there are morons out there who have the ability to mess with my future!
