In other threads we've discussed our dislike of the present partisan-based electoral/government system. One of the biggest issues with the striking of the partisan system is...how would we replace it? How would elections be structured? What would the government (especially the Congress) look like?

Two simple changes could institute a non-partisan system:

(A) No primary elections. Instead, everyone eligible to run runs in one large election. If no candidate gets majority, the top two (or three or four or however many) go to a special run-off, where another election is held until another candidate gets a majority.

(B) Party affiliation would not appear on ballots.

Louisiana has a pretty workable run-off system. Nebraska has a pretty workable nonpartisan system, too. It would be necessary to study them at depth.
