Well, it seems we have a duet of operatic thespians singing the same sour notes.

Simply because your fingers can write a statement does not make it true.

"Let's be honest. the more and more illegal immigrants we have in this country, the worse off this country will be."

You can type in "the impact of illegal immigrants" into Google and you will find an enormous quality of research papers that have claimed to study the problem and come to vastly different conclusions.  Not surprisingly, most of the papers reflect the biased opinion of the organizations the authors are working for.

When all is said and done, presumably independent organizations (ie. Congressional Budget Office), conclude the weight of intangibles (such as cost of labor intensive business moving outside the US), make an accurate cost:benefit calculation impossible.Impact of Unauthorized Immigrants

The issue of embryonic stem cell research falls into the same category.  Nancy Reagan would certainly vehemently argue that embryonic stem cell research could have prevented her husband's prolonged and pitiful death.  Of course, what would we do with Ronald Reagan if he were still alive today?

There are times when we admittedly reach a cross-roads and subjective judgments must be made.  I would never impugn the integrity of any leader who must make a hard, subjective judgment. I supported Bush when he withdrew Federal funding.  I support Obama when he re-instates it.  Both sides have their merits and drawbacks.  That's why we elect policy makers.
