The release of the video caused an uproar and mass rallies in Israel. The act of leaking of the video shocked Israeli society more than the abhorrent crime itself. Mass Jewish Israeli demonstrations took place in front of the Supreme Court expressing their outrage over the leaking of the sexual abuse video of the Israeli soldiers and their dog raping a Palestinian prisoner, demanding the protection of these soldiers’ “right to rape Palestinians” and the persecution of Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, who leaked the video. These protestors were incited and encouraged by TV commentators and Knesset members, who bragged about this crime, and proudly defended the soldiers’ right to rape Palestinians. Israel’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, demanded to treat these sexually abusing soldiers as national heroes. A member of Likud Party, Hanoch Milividsky, stated that everything is legitimate to do to Hamas fighters. In the same token is it also legitimate to do to Israeli soldiers?
