The drive-by lib media and the leftist slander blogs have dragged the level of political discourse down to an unprecedented low. Popeye's posts are largely a recycling of their garbage. Even the New York Times, liberal forever but maintaining some standards, dragged itself down into the leftwing sewer with an article last week attacking Cindy McCain personally.What's happening, imo, is the whole liberal/left establishment sees a once in a hundred years opportunity to elect a leftwing extremist president, and they aren't going to lose it for any reason - certainly not something like supporting journalistic integrity.
