It's Been A Tough Week For The Wingnuts

This has not a been a great week to be a wingnut, hopefully more will follow. Three examples illustrate this point:

1) Ever heard of Orly Taitz? Even though it sounds like the clinical name for some greasy teenage facial problem, it's actually the name of a person, a female wingnut. You may be unfamiliar with her name, but you're certainly familiar with her efforts. She's one the top leaders of the "birther" cabal. Not only that, she's a wingnut attorney that's been gallivanting across America filing lawsuit after lawsuit to harass the president over his birth location. With zero wins, and a bus load of rejections, she keeps shopping for a judge as bat guano looney as she is. So far she hasn't found one, but today she met a judge she probably should have avoided.

Associated Press reported that a federal judge in Columbus, Georgia issued "a scathing 43-page order which said California lawyer and dentist Orly Taitz filed 'frivolous' litigation and attempted to misuse the federal courts to push a political agenda. U.S. District Judge Clay D. Land also fined her $20,000 and warned her against using the legal system to pursue "political rhetoric and insults." The judge also stated, "The absolute absence of any legitimate legal argument, combined with the political diatribe in her motions, demonstrates that Ms. Taitz's purpose is to advance a political agenda and not to pursue a legitimate legal cause of action." Judge Land added that while Taitz's speech is protected by the U.S. Constitution, "the federal courts are reserved for hearing genuine legal disputes, not as a platform for political rhetoric and insults."

Oh sure, you're probably thinking, more of that liberal bias from the courts. Way wrong on that one. Judge Land was appointed to the federal court in 2001 by George W. Bush.

2) Senator Lindsey Graham (Republican - South Carolina) attended a town hall meeting in Greenville, South Carolina he probably won't forget for a while. Just a reminder, Senator Graham was the co-chair of McCain's failed bid for the White House and seemed to be joined at the hip with McCain in all the photo ops. The wingnut tea baggers showed up at the town hall meeting. That's the group that wants us to "keep your government hands off my Medicare", and delights in holding up signs reading "Get A Brain Morans". They had some views to share with Senator Graham. A summary of the the labels these tea baggers expressed to Senator Graham include... "Traitor", "Democrat in drag", "Half-A-Sissy", "fake Republican", "RINO" (Republican in name only), "disgrace", "asshat", "girly man" and "wussypants". That's what his constituents, his Republican tea bag constituents came to tell him. He's just not conservative enough for the tinfoil hat crowd.

Republican leaders sold out to this crowd of mouth-breathers and knuckle-draggers because they could easily be duped and manipulated, and more importantly would go to the polls and vote in mass as they were instructed to do. Now, like a parent that has tolerated or encouraged bad behavior of a three year old, they're having to live with the consequences of their actions. If Lindsey Graham, Mr. Wussypants, isn't far enough to the right for this pack, it's going to be really amusing to see how they drive the Republican Party in the months and years to come.

3) America's premier hate monger, Rush Limbaugh, was hoping to be part of a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams NFL team, but his past quickly surfaced as problematic.

Associated Press reported, "Limbaugh's bid ran into opposition from within the image-conscious NFL on Tuesday when Colts owner Jim Irsay said he would vote against the radio personality. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the commentator's 'divisive' comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider. The league tries to avoid getting snared in controversial issues outside sports, which has caused Limbaugh trouble in the past. In 2003, he was forced to resign from ESPN's Sunday night football broadcast after saying of Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb: 'I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well'."

During his radio broadcast on Wednesday Limbaugh said he had no intention of backing out.

Later in the day he didn't "back out", he was tossed out. He was tossed out on the garbage pile by his business pals. Associated Press reported, "Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been dropped from a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a bid led by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts, but Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh's participation had complicated the effort. The group will move forward without him." In the end it wasn't his money that was a problem, apparently spewing hate pays very well. It was his black heart, and daily vile rhetoric that was the catalyst for getting dumped. He did it to himself.
