There is a discussion about this verse which is often recited during the "Christmas" period.

First there is the old King James standard which reads:

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Then we have the new , and what is called more accurate, translation:

"Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men in whom he is well pleased."

Do you think God is pleased with the world in its current state of depravity? Should there be peace? Can there be peace?

This reading is more modern. We say peace to people of good will. However other passages say we should love our enemies.
I doubt if God is pleased with the state of the world. But there have always be wars, Peace is not always the best alternative
