Racially insensitive remarks from the past brought down Limbaugh, who in 2003 was forced to resign from ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" broadcast after saying of the Eagles' Donovan McNabb: "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."

According to transcripts posted on his Web site, in 2007 Limbaugh said: "The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it."

But to answer your question about why Limbaugh got dumped, it's quite simple. He spreads hate, promotes divisivness, and spews out anto-American rhetoric like hoping the president fails. It appears, the NFL, and especially his former business buddies didn't seem to find that nearly as charming as you do, so they threw him out with the garbage.

One of my most frequent criticisms of prominent Republicans is their willingness to play fast and loose with the truth. That's a nice way of saying they lie a lot. Rush Limbaugh has made a career, a very lucrative career, out of spewing out lie after lie, delivered with a blustery style that sounds like it might be true. But it usually isn't. What makes him effective is having a following of sheeple, called "dittoheads", that just blindly accept everything he barfs up as honest fact. They never tire of being lied to, actually seeming to have an insatiable appetite for the lies, and never, ever bother to actually check for themselves. Life is so much simpler when you delegate responsibility for your thoughts to someone else. It's a "Forrest Gump" kind of thing.

Recently America's newest senator, Al Franken took exception to one of Limbaugh's frequent claims. Senator Franken would be ineligible for membership in the "dittohead club". He's smart, very smart, and actually informed. After hearing Limbaugh resurrect a frequent claim, he knew it was false and asked his staff to do the quick research. His first reaction was on target. Limbaugh's claim was a total manufactured lie, not even close to the documented facts, or the truth.

Absent of the bellowing indignation, hallmarks of Limbaugh's approach, he calmly explained what the real, genuine facts were, and served up a brief truth correction to Limbaugh's lie. He concluded his comments with a short piece of advice the "dittoheads" would be wise to follow, but probably won't.

The clip takes one minute and eleven seconds, which apparently is all the time you need to debunk a Limbaugh lie if you're really, really smart.
