i think our country has increasing morality over time.  we started with slavery, women couldnt vote, no controls on pollution, persecution of gays, capitalism run wild, the military was used to do things like conquer hawaii...things were great if you were a white christian straight man with money, but everyone else was a second class citizen.  Fortunately over time we have fixed a lot of our moral ills
