Which civil liberty is most important?

1) Right to life
2) Right to liberty
3) Right to property
4) All those above from the constitution equally
5) Right to freedom of speech
6) Right to freedom of religion
7) Right to due process
8) Right to bear arms
9) Rights of the accused
10) Rights retained by states or individuals
11) All those above from the bill of rights or Constitution equally
12) Right to civil marriage
13) Right to control reproduction
14) The ones that when lost results in the loss of others
15) All of the above are equally important
16) None are important
17) Some other that was not listed
18) Some other combination I will list

For those who are a bit foggy on the issue:

"Civil liberties are rights in Freedom that protect an individual from the government of the nation in which they reside. Civil liberties set limits on government so that its members cannot abuse their power and interfere unduly with the lives of private citizens."

Apparently no one thinks that any one liberty is more important than another. they must all be equally important?

That means that the so called right to universal health care is not more important than the constituitional right to keep ones own dollars.

Well right to life has to be the most important. If you are killed for what ever reason none of the other rights would apply to you.

Right to liberty would be second because to have liberty you have freedoms like religion and speech exc. if you are denied freedom of religion or freedom of speech you are denied liberty.

So it seems to me with liberty you get the rest too

The most important right is the right to be refused health insurance (the right to die), because of a pre-existing condition. Or the right to live on the street because you lost your job and your house. The right to complain and rationalize about the evils of socialism from the comfort of your warm, safe, home while others suffer.

Then there is always the right to keep the money I have worked hard for, instead of having it redistributed (providing employment) to soldiers fighting in unnecessary wars instigated by a dullard's "gut feeling".

You see things very clearly my friend.;)

See that's the little catch they don't want anyone to think about.

It's fine if redistributing for something the Right wants.

Nation Building... fine we have a money tree out back of the White House go pick all you want.

Corporate Welfare... well sure every dollar that we don't bring in from the standard business tax rate or abatement or subsidy we give is a dollar that some working stiff has to make up for... but hey we have that pot of gold out there at the end of the rainbow so give the big guys the break.

But evil things like Social Security for our poor American elderly or healthcare for American families that's just not needed. It's survival of the fittest... unless you're the big guy.

How about the right to agree to disagree. More importantly how about the right of self respect and that of others. I know I'm guilty of that one. Have a Happy Thanksgiving Dr. Who. I appreciate your insight on a lot stuff you put out. Very informative and to the point. ;)

Along the same lines lets not forget the right to be caught in the path of a tornado.

I believe all of the conservatives around here are against both nation building and corporate welfare.

Politicians are another matter. Politicians from both parties do what is in the best interest of their reelection funds rather than the American people.

The right to disagree would be good. That would mean that those who want to live as collectivists would not impose their idea on everyone else. They should go and form groups of like-minded people.

We capitalists are happy to let them.

I would point out that the topic of the thread is civil liberties and we have been doing a lot of discussing of rights which are not exactly the same.

You might be... but the majority of Conservatives as a whole are big Nation Building Hawks. And their corporate welfare ways also cannot be covered up.

Please name some names. Then show that it is a majority.

What we will find is that congress on both sides loves to give away money for personal gain and meddle in the affairs of other countries.
