1. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg sharply criticized China on Tuesday for "bullying its neighbors and threatening Taiwan" and stressed the need for Japan and other democracies to work together with the alliance to defend the international order.

Calling it a "critical moment for NATO and for Japan," Stoltenberg, who is visiting Tokyo, said China and Russia are "leading an authoritarian pushback against international rules-based order."

He said trans-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security are "deeply interconnected," and a victory by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine would send a message that authoritarian regimes can achieve their goals through brute force. "This is dangerous," he said....

2. Washington: President Joe Biden said Monday he will not be sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine to help its war against Russian invaders, but said he would visit crucial ally Poland.

"No," he said when asked by reporters at the White House if he was in favor of sending the jets, which Ukraine's leaders have said are at the top of their latest weapons wish list....

3. The NATO chief spoke as though Chinese soldiers are now swarming all over Europe together with the Russian forces. Instead of travelling far away from the theatre of war, the fellow should have gone to the US to ask his NATO master why he is so afraid of granting the Ukrainian leader his wish of getting F-16 fighter jets to defeat the Russian invaders. :)

Using an analogy, while the forest fire was spreading rapidly towards the village, the village chief went to a distant place to play upon the biwa (Japanese: 琵琶), a Japanese short-necked wooden lute traditionally used in narrative storytelling.
