Of course, the police are too often used deal with domestic violence cases, and they are often not trained to deal with such situations.

Take the case where a cop shot a woman in the face and killed her in her own home when she was 12 feet away from him and "armed" only with a pan of hot water. A counselor is what is needed when dealing with people who are emotionally disturbed.
