the maine twins snowe and collins and good old arlen spector the democratic republican and for god sakes mccain was a liberal republican as well

Really? In the Senate, one person can stop any bill he wants to stop. 60 votes is the new 51, but even beyond that Jim DeMint put a hold on every single piece of legislation. Every single piece. Nothing moved without his approval. He was the constipation in the room.

crying Rino does not win a debate when the fact is they are in fact Republicans..and they did filibuster over and over and over and over and over...Imagine if for 8 years under Bush..the Dems said nothing can pass without 60 votes in the senate...how much would have got done ( come to think of it that would have been nice.....)

He exacted a high price for his agreement to let it come to the floor.

These guys think they are winning great victories. They believe they are changing Washington and how business is done. They will discover that what goes around comes around and in the end they will be squashed like bugs.

I think it passed do to getting 60% of the vote in the senate..also the little detail of the public voted for the Dems into all three branches, after they ran on doing just what they did. Of course when republicans are voted into office they can do what ever they want and cry will of the people that voted them in...but dems make a super majority and overcome the 60 vote fillibuster...thats the bill being forced on everyone. Also 10 years ago..Obama care...was called the Republican health care plan.

Exactly. Republicans are so into obstructionism that they won't even vote for the bills they originated and sponsored.
