"As a person becomes more spiritual, so much fewer rights does he have in this life. It is obligatory to be patient, to accept injustice, to accept evil words from others. A crooked stick (perverted person) who is distant from God has many rights: to strike and shout and act unrighteously. God keeps our rights for the other life. Out of ignorance however we often seek our rights here. Let us not damage things at all. If they say anything to us, immediately we give them the right. And later we think we trust in God. That is a big joke. Human justice doesn't mean anything to a spiritual person. But it is a great concern for the perverted person."
~ Elder Paisios of the Holy Mountain Athos (1924–1994 A.D.)

Maybe I don't understand what he was trying to say but it sounds like that guy was saying Christians should roll like toilet paper and not seek to have their rights as individuals respected on earth because they only have those rights in heaven. o_O

Seems more like 'turn the other cheek'. There are rights and there are rewards.

Point:

"God keeps our rights for the other life. Out of ignorance however we often seek our rights here. Let us not damage things at all. If they say anything to us, immediately we give them the right."

Counterpoint:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Consideration:

If the Dawkinsrox of the world were to take over, they'd start rounding up theists for slave labor and/or begin murdering them en masse in death camps ala 3rd reich style. With every Christian wiped off the face of the planet, how would anyone in future generations learn of the bible, Jesus, God, or the afterlife? Simply put, Christianity would never have survived, and would quickly become extinct, if it's adherents actually practiced pacifism.

There are few orthodox christians obviously. But many have paid a hard price over the years yet it lives on.

Who was fighting that fight in ancient Rome ?
I'd credit two main groups... The intellectuals, the men who laid the ground work and ideological foundation for the enlightenment that would take place about two thousand years later. The concept of not agreeing with what you say but being willing to defend to the death your right to say it came from those early thinkers.

And the other group was the... (Non orthodox.. Un-Orthodox? Don't know what to call them) Christians who refused to fold like lawn chairs, actually stood up to tyranny and used force to defended themselves against the use of force by others.

This statement says that God puts men here for no reason, it's a perversion of Divine will in my opinion.

God put people here because he is an insecure genocidal maniac

Why else would he make people to worship him and then drown them for turning out exactly like he knew they would?

You have that backwards, you are the genocidal maniac.

You are terribly arrogant to the think YOU know the mind of God. I hope you ask Him for forgiveness before it is too late.
