1. Tokyo (AFP) – US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday that the United States will "not allow" China to isolate Taiwan, after her visit to the self-ruled island infuriated Beijing....

"They may try to keep Taiwan from visiting or participating in other places, but they will not isolate Taiwan by preventing us to travel there," she told reporters.

"We will not allow them to isolate Taiwan," she said, listing lower-level US visits to the island and reiterating that her trip was "not about changing the status quo" in the region....

"If we do not speak out for human rights in China because of commercial interests, we lose all moral authority to speak about human rights any place in the world," she said....

2. US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said her trip to Taiwan is a signal to the world that Washington stands with the self-governed island’s “vibrant, robust” democracy and has a “sacred vow” to support its defence amid growing threats from Beijing.

“In the face of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) accelerating aggression, our congressional delegation’s visit should be seen as an unequivocal statement that America stands with Taiwan, our democratic partner, as it defends itself and its freedom,” she wrote in an essay published in The Washington Post moments after she landed in Taipei on Tuesday, her first public comments outlining her reasons for the trip.

“We cannot stand by as the CCP proceeds to threaten Taiwan – and democracy itself,” she said. “By traveling to Taiwan, we honor our commitment to democracy: reaffirming that the freedoms of Taiwan – and all democracies – must be respected.”...

In her essay, Pelosi also said: “America’s solidarity with Taiwan is more important today than ever – not only to the 23 million people of the island but also to millions of others oppressed and menaced by the PRC.”

She linked US support for Taiwan and her trip to Taipei directly to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, describing it as another front in a global battle between authoritarianism and democracy....

3. China seems to have learned to isolate Taiwan from America's isolation of the so-called "sovereign tribal nations" which the US has tried very hard throughout the centuries to get the whole world forget their existence. To show her sincerity in promoting, defending and respecting democracy and freedom, the US House Speaker ought to spend the rest of her term visiting all the 574 (or 573?) sovereign tribal nations that are landlocked with a population of 6.79 million inside the US. In addition, she must fight for the rights of the sovereign tribal nations to be members of the United Nations.

Does the US still have all moral authority to speak about human rights any place in the world after its genocide of Red Indians and relentless attempts to make them the forgotten people? 😇

P.S. Similarly, China must "not allow" the US authorities to isolate the so-called "sovereign tribal nations" that are landlocked in America.

Strong response.

I never saw Trump do this.

All Trump did is suck up to them.

its been a few years since then. Are you saying that once you make a mistake, your ability to lead is forever given up?
