I think that it's both. Conservatives use the words they think are the most scariest to people. Conservatives believe that Americans are terrified of communism so they use that word to describe democrats and liberals.

Those of us who do know the honest meaning of words in the English language, are disgusted and sickened we have such down right stupid and dishonest people in our nation.

While they love a man who proudly says he will be a dictator. Maybe it's projection. They are projecting what they want and are on democrats. Conservatives have been doing that for decades.
