and people wonder why unemployment is the way it is

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday indicated Congress needs to worry about government jobs more than private-sector jobs, and that this is why Senate Democrats are pushing a bill aimed at shoring up teachers and first-responders.

"It's very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine; it's the public-sector jobs where we've lost huge numbers, and that's what this legislation is all about," Reid said on the Senate floor.

Its not at all clear to me Harry

He's a liberal.

Government IS the country.

The rest are just subjects, there to serve government.

These positions were cut because the localities could not sustain them due to either having reduced revenues or just overspending (or both). Only a foolish locality hires knowing its only for a year and since the money does not have to go toward hiring, there is no guarantee this makes any difference. Never mind that teachers are already saet for the school year. Nec3r mind that the feds have no business hiring local people.

Work instead on boosting employer confidence and then the local issues take care of themselves.
