"As John McCain prepared to return to campaign in Ohio Sunday, he denounced what he considers an attack on his favorite everyman - "Joe the Plumber."

The Republican presidential candidate reacted today to a story in The Dispatch about the use of state computers to access personal information about "Joe" - suburban Toledo resident Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher.

State and local officials are investigating why his driver's license and vehicle registration information was accessed shortly after Wurzelbacher became a household name.

McCain frequently brought up "Joe" during his Oct. 15 debate with Democrat Barack Obama. After that, Wurzelbacher's name was run three times on Bureau of Motor Vehicles computers, The Dispatch reported this morning.

The information was accessed through accounts assigned to the office of Ohio's attorney general, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency in Cleveland and the Toledo Police Department.

Who accessed the information, and why, has not been determined. Access to BMV data is restricted to legitimate government purposes. Illegal access can be a crime.

Wurzelbacher, who is considering a run for Congress, told Fox News today that he was upset to learn about the rummaging through his records."

I'll bet the RNC had wished they'd attempted this, earlier.....when the name Sarah Palin was floated!

Actually you are probably wrong there. The republicans saw how successful Bush was in 'winning' against the very capable Al Gore so they figured that an even stupider candidate might be even better at 'winning' against the very capable Obama.

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....we're talkin'-about credentials (for 2010), here. :D

"Joe the Plumber, whose on-the-street questioning of Barack Obama’s tax cuts made him a cult hero in conservative circles and the star of the third presidential debate, has decided to take full advantage of his fifteen minutes of fame, staffers working for John McCain discovered this week."

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
