The Secretary General of Al Wefaq National Islamic Society was today targeted by the security forces who shot at him directly with tear gas canisters and rubber bullets, injuring him in the shoulder and back. He was participating in a peaceful protest under the banner 'We will defeat you with our peaceful movement'.

The forces targeted anyone who was moving on the ground with brutal and barbaric repression.

Amongst the injured were other opposition leaders who were leading the protest including Hasan Al-Marzooq who received a rubber bullet to the neck and bled profusely. Jawad Fairouz, Al Wefaq's First Vice-Secretary General and former MP, was also injured in the attack.
The police forces besieged the area of protest, blocking all routes leading to it.

Looks like they don''t want another "Arab Spring" springing up in their country.

Baharan is an Arab dictatorship run by one family. The Arab spring revolt there try to overthrow it but was not successful. I see no point in supporting this dictatorship.

Tear Gas is common in putting down revolutions in most countries but not shot directly at leaders.

How many countries in the Arab world don't act like a dictatorship or theocracy?

More now since the Arab Spring. Egypt is becoming more democratic, so is Libya.

Egypt this morning elected its first democratic President. Yes he is a Muslim so are the majority of its people, This is the news. What news are you reading dogtower.

I hope in this case the Military retains power. The MB promised last fall that they wouldn't run a candidate for Pres. So much for their integrity. The democracy/freedom wanting youth and women lost out in this deal. They will turn into another Iran being ruled by crazy radical Imams.

Dogtower and Cruella seem to be at cross purposes. Dogtower as if the Military concede anything. Well they announced the Muslim election.
However Cruella seems to think that the Muslim have all the power "They will turn into another Iran being ruled by a Crazy Imans"
The new president is neither crazy or an Iman.

I've stated from the start that the military will never cede authority. they set up Mubarek the last time and they'll set up some other puppet this time too. Oddly enough, its benefited Egypt by and large to their transition to the 20th century. Sure there has been some ugliness but that is par for the course over there. A degeneration into a muslim state will create great hardship for the population, the generals kn ow this and love their power and country enough to see that doesn't happen.

He's with the Muslim Brotherhood. Why don't you get that? Read about the histoy of the MB in Egypt. The country is going to become a very strict theocracy just like Iran. A wing of the MB military is in Gaza. It's called Hammas and it's a terrorist group, just as the MB has been since they were formed in 1928.
