1996 a gunman entered Dunblane Primary School in Scotland and killed 16 kids and a teacher. In the aftermath the UK goverment enacted tight gun control legislation. Since then there have been a total of zero school shootings in the UK.

Some numbers:

Guns (2017)
England & Wales: 4.6 per 100
US: 121.5 per 100

Knife homicides (2020) show comparable numbers:
England & Wales: 0.48 per 100,000
US: 0.54 per 100,000

Yes we have a gun culture due to having to fight england for our independence and our desire to remain free from rule from kings and dictators.
Dont worry we will defend the scotts irish and english from the Russians and Chinese just like we did against the nazis . you cant defend your self. Perhaps if you had more of a armed population who were able and willing to own a fire arm you might able to defend your self.
Trying to invade America would be one bloody battle as we have about 300 million firearms and Americas to use them. I didnt see the english or french or irish etc refusing our guns in ww2 they wanted them.
Freedom has a price tag and its usually paid in blood . just ask the Ukrainian
 
There are millions of ar 15s 8n the usa I own 4 .
There are about 500 shooting deaths from rifles a year. Thats all types of rifles not just ar 15s.
Most of the shooting are from hinting accidents and suicides.
So your talking few dozen from murders .
Over 1700 people are stabbed to death and about the same number beat to death.
We have a death from drug overdoses every 5 min yet liberals like the boarder being open and flowing with illegals and drugs.
The real issue is people and no law or policy or ban will ever change that
