The title is about the payroll tax cut, but the article shows it is about more than that:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Most Americans want Congress to vote to continue the payroll tax reduction, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll that comes as Democrats and Republicans wrestle over whether to extend the cut through 2012.
It's the latest instance in which lawmakers on Capitol Hill have allowed partisan sniping to hold up action that polls show most Americans support, like ending the Bush tax cuts or adding a surcharge on millionaires.
The dragged-out debate over whether to extend an expiring payroll tax reduction is one of many developments that have kept voters furious with their leaders all year. On the brink of the 2012 presidential and congressional elections, virtually all Americans are disappointed and frustrated with the political scene and nearly 6 in 10 say they are angry, the AP-GfK survey showed.

Only six out of ten? Are 40% really happy, or are they just not paying attention?

47%+ pay no income taxes. thats reason for some love assuming they have food in th4ir bellies and a roof over their head that is not made of cardboard.
They may not pay income taxes, but they pay payroll taxes if they have a job at all, and they are affected by the actions and inactions of Congress.

a shocking % of people believe (perhaps rightly so) that it matters not who they elect. note the pitiful % of voter turnout.

I thought BO was suppose to make us all happy when he became POTUS. The lib media rejoiced when he won and proclaimed ad nasuem how great and wonderful Obama was. How the world would love us and all was good was the daily drumbeat.

Oh well...chalk it up as just another lie by the left.

Correct, and a lot of those who do vote base their decisions on tradition, on party, and on slick TV ads. How many really understand anything about the issues we face? if they did, they'd have thrown out the incumbents several election cycles ago.

lets say that we actually did 'throw the bums out', all of them. how long do you think it would take for the new crop to fall into the same traps ? I'd have to say not long given the fact that in the house you really never stop campaigning. the system is predicated on money instead of ideas.

Congress was never intended to be a full time job and is now only due to the unconstitutional bloat of government. sad part is that the only possible solution is impossible to implement.

Yes, what we really need are both term limits, and a limit on campaign spending. The problem is, the ones to pass such a measure are the same ones with a vested interest in it not passing.
Politics should be a limited term of public service, not a financially rewarding career.
