I hear you.  I guess I am older than you by more than a couple of decades as my kids are long out of school...but I fought a seemingly never ending battle with the educational system trying to indoctrinate my kids into the religion of man made climate change.  I am proud to say that my kids are both critical thinkers and are skeptical of most any claim that can't be backed up with hard evidence...now the battle continues with my grandkids...if your kids are going to learn critical thinking skills, they are going to have to be taught those skills at home...I have seen little evidence of critical thinking skills within the educational system for a very very very long time.

Unfortunately far to few parents can be bothered to teach their kids anything and even if they could be bothered, they lack any real critical thinking skills themselves.  I know people who put more effort into teaching their dog to sit, lie down and heel than they do into teaching their kids how to think.
