Factually you are wrong. We are not in a recession. The economy is growing, and thus far, there was never a quarter in which it was not.
Further, hate to tell you this, but when Bill Clinton left office, we were in a recession.
Claiming Democrats do not cause recessions is fairly ignorant.
Here's a list:

Since 1900, we have had 17 presidents, only 7 of which were democrats. Four of which, where in office during recessions, and the Great Depression.
4 of 7? More than half caused recessions. That's pretty bad odds. Think I'll vote Republican then.
Btw, yes it's true FDR got in office after the 'start' of the great depression, but the depression got worse due to his policies, and he failed horribly to do anything for 7 years. If you need to know more, read up on the Recession of 1937, caused by his "new deal", which we're still paying for today.
Ironically, FDR is a great example of good policy and bad policy. When FDR got into office, he passed the Economy Act, that cut spending, cut government employee salaries, cut entitlements, and moved toward a balanced federal budget. The result was a growing economy, and nearly ended the Great Depression. He was in effect, a fiscal conservative, and it was working.
Then FDR in 1935 took a major turn toward the left. Some historians even call this "The Second New Deal". He reformed monetary policy, supported BigLabor policies, formed WPA (a socialized unemployment program), Social Security, and unemployment insurance, minimum wage, and so on. He abandoned the balanced budget, and sank the government into debt. The result was in 1937 and all of 1938, the economy sank back to the same levels it was in 1933.
Even then, the Republicans that cause recession normally do so by acting like democrats. For example, Bush Sr, caused a recession by passing tax hikes. Now I can't promise McCain won't act like a democrat, but I can promise Obama will. So I know Obama will cause a recession, no question about it.
