Today we introduce tags to the House of Politics forum!

Thread tagging is a system that allows you to apply your own keywords (tags) to threads. This way threads are categorized based on the actual content. If used consistently, it's a better way to find a specific topic than a full-text search.

An example: if you search for the tag cloning
https://www.houseofpolitics.com/forum/tags.php?tag=cloning
you will not only find the thread "Should cloning be allowed?" with the word "cloning" in it but also the thread "Sheep that's 15% human".

Another good example is the keyword "global warming":

which shows also a thread with the title "pollution".

How can you tag a thread?
At the bottom of every thread you will find a tag box. Simply click at "edit tags" on the right side and enter the keywords you find apropriate. Good ideas are topics, persons, locations. Just think for which keywords you would search.
And not only the thread opener is able to tag a thread, everyone can do so, even days or weeks after the thread was created.

How to search for tags?
In the search menu at the top of every page you will find a new entry "tag search". This option will also show how frequently the keywords are searched for...

If you want to help the community...
take some time and tag a few old threads, e.g. two a day, this doesn't take much time and will improve search tremendously
