Another embarrassing display of dementia from Donald Trump.

The Commander in Chief Is Not Okay

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s convocation of hundreds of generals and admirals today turned out to be, in the main, a nothingburger. Hegseth strutted and paced and lectured and hectored, warning the officers that he was tired of seeing fat people in the halls of the Pentagon and promising to take the men who have medical or religious exemptions from shaving—read: mostly Black men—and kick them out of the military. He assured them that the “woke” Department of Defense was now a robust and manly Department of War, and that they would no longer have to worry about people “smearing” them as “toxic” leaders. (Hegseth went on a tirade about the word toxic itself, noting that if a commitment to high standards made him “toxic,” then “so be it.”)

All in all, an utterly embarrassing address. But that wasn’t the worst of it. The assembled military leaders likely already knew that Hegseth is unqualified for his job, and they could mostly tune out the sloganeering that Hegseth, a former TV host, was probably aiming more at Fox News and the White House than at the military itself. What they could not ignore, however, was the spectacle that President Donald Trump put on when he spoke after Hegseth.

The president talked at length, and his comments should have confirmed to even the most sympathetic observer that he is, as the kids say, not okay. Several of Hegseth’s people said in advance of the senior-officer conclave that its goal was to energize America’s top military leaders and get them to focus on Hegseth’s vision for a new Department of War. But the generals and admirals should be forgiven if they walked out of the auditorium and wondered: What on earth is wrong with the commander in chief?

Trump seemed quieter and more confused than usual; he is not accustomed to audiences who do not clap and react to obvious applause lines. “I’ve never walked into a room so silent before,” he said at the outset. (Hegseth had the same awkward problem earlier, waiting for laughs and applause that never came.) The president announced his participation only days ago, and he certainly seemed unprepared.

Trump started rambling right out of the gate.

They Salute!

Keep on worshipping an evil man.
Whether you or they like it or not, they salute the President because he is their boss! I worship God. I do not like all things that a President may do and I gave my reasons why I voted for him.
I also stated I voted for Obama! Sure as hell did not want Hillary!
Many whites voted for Obama as well otherwise he would have never been President!! If our Country was that racist, do you honestly think he would have been President of the United States of America? Twice? I mean really?

You voted for racism when you chose Trump. You should have voted for Hillary. She was the best choice. In both elections, nearly 60 percent of the white voters voted against Obama. Realize that just because a black person is elected does not erase the racism from this country. I really get tired of whites on the right making that comment. Whites got so mad about Obama, they elected Trump.

You are the “black” person that will always will be angry! I guess I’m naive to the fact because I know I’m not racist. Just because I say thugs burning down cities etc.. it’s not just blacks! Yes there is black on black crime. Crime with cops. Yes some bad cops.. but some are good. People resist arrest. All races do it’s just the focus is when a black gets shot everyone asks why! Why? Why does one resist? Run? Because black or white, they are guilty!
You have an excuse for everything to put race into it! Sadly, it will always be about race because the Political world on BOTH sides use it. Hispanics as well! So don’t go there! Religion! It will always be sadly!

800 admirals and generals were in that auditorium! Disciplined people that see and go through things that we will never see and a class others will never be! And if people are critical of what Hegseth said, the standards were zero. These people are on the front lines of our enemies and have to back one another to protect America. 🇺🇸 Criticism will always be except when tragedy happens, who does one call? It’s not if at this point, it’s when!

Well those military members were forced to listen to 2 unqualified civilians lecturing them. Hegseth didn't know the standards. This charade removed our top military officials from stations around the world and gave enemies a possible opening. It was an unecessary stunt by 2 morons.

Hegseth proved his leadership in a spectacular speech restoring former military standards to the future military and doing away with the leftist crap that grew under Biden.
