Modern theologians never seem to be aware that the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and ran all the Jews and Christians out.

Theologians are basically a waste of time, because they start with the conclusion and work backwards to explain how somehow a ton of malarkey makes sense, which is does not.

The Bible is an occasionally useful history of the Hebrew and Jewish people, and the New Testament ends with the Book of Revelation, which is essentially the ravings of a crazy loon. To me there is no way it could possibly be the inspired work of even a modestly intelligent human being.

Who the poo cares whether God blesses Assyria or not? Who cares who Jonah blesses? If all the people should be blessed, then God, being omnipotent and all, could simply make all people immune to cancer, leprosy, smallpox, diphtheria, the plague, or at least Guinea worms.

How did you get to be an expert on "modern theologians"?
Paul and Zacharias are certainly not "modern".

Building the Third Temple with the sole motive of destroying it would be in keeping with this wacko prophesy. Of course, to build a Third Temple, it would be necessary to destroy the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is guaranteed NOT to bring peace.

The author of the Book of Revelation refers to the destruction of the Temple. Odds are that either he was writing before Herod's (the second) Temple was destroyed by the Romans or was unaware that it had been destroyed.
