Since no one has convinced me yet, no, I don't really think he is a Marxist. I do think he is a big government statist, as was Bush, and Clinton, and most likely McCain as well.
While I don't think he is taking the country in the right direction economically, I also don't see a great difference between what he is doing and what his predecessor did, nor in what McCain would probably have done.
As a trade off, we have a president who can speak clearly, who has put an end to torture (I think so anyway, can't really prove it), and who has a better shot at getting the cooperation of foreign nations than Bush ever did.
So, until we have a government that is really committed to a balanced budget and less federal power, I'll have to be content to scoff at the more ridiculous claims against Obama, and hope to heaven he doesn't deepen the recession too much.
