Do you have any idea how utterly ridiculous you sound making such a statement? ...What am I saying, clearly you do not. You probably even believe such nonsense.
Prior to the governments "war on poverty" beginning in 1964, the poverty rate was steadily declining. Since then, poverty has remained somewhat constant as a percent of the population but the total number of people living in poverty has steadily increased.

Its almost criminal that we began that war and its certainly been the most expensive, least rewarding and longest lasting war we've ever undertaken... seeing as it continues to this day.
Naturally you blame "unchecked Capitalism" which has never been unchecked in the history of the United States and has, in fact, become ever more "checked" by an ever growing, ever intrusive government.
Now I realize someone of your intellectual caliber may have a short attention span but please stay with me while we move onto China:
So what were those "far changing economic reforms"? Capitalism.... but just a little bit at a time and the government made sure to keep control of many sectors of the economy. Of course, "Red China" doesn't like to admit they turned to capitalism to save their socialist workers paradise:
Two things here... first, China went from 100% government control to "just" 30% and the gains they have seen as a result are huge. Secondly, America is going the opposite direction and one need only a basic understanding of history to see where this will lead our country.
Now this next part is priceless:
You see... there are some people... some very, very ignorant and gullible people... who claim socialism works. Additionally there are some equally ignorant and gullible people who say Capitalism is a failure. Some such people post right here on these forums and it would really burst their bubble if the Chi-Coms had to admit to the world that Marxism and Socialism were a complete failure and only Capitalism was capable of sustaining a civilized society.
