These two things are: They are MOSTLY BRIGHT RED STATES (only 2 are swing states), and they have VERY LAX gun laws.
Yet, now that the Right has decided they couldn't get any more mileage out of the "Benghazi conspiracy theory," they are turning to another attempt to blame President Obama for all the evils in America! They point the finger to Chicago for the most violent gun crimes. . . and blaming THIS ALSO on President Obama!
But what is the truth?

Here is the list of the most violent gun crime States:

#1, Mississippi (bright R)
#2, Arizona (bright R)
#3, Alaska (bright R)
#4, Arkansas (bright R)
#5, Louisiana (bright R)
#6, New Mexico (swing state)
#7, Alabama (bright R)
#8, Nevada (swing state)
#9, Montana (bright R)
#10, Wyoming (bright R)

Now. . .isn't that interesting!

So guys, nothing to say to this?
I know it must be a shock to all of you!

Did the cat eat your tongue? LOL

the FBI reports

The figures show that California had the highest number of gun murders last year - 1,790, which is 68% of all murders that year and equivalent to 3.25 per 100,000 people in the state. Big as that figure is, it's still down by 3% on the previous year. Other key findings include:
• While gun crime is down in the vast majority of states, it is up in Indiana, Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisiana and several of the smaller states
• If you look at the firearms murder rate per 100,000 people, District of Columbia comes out top - with 12 firearms murders per 100,000 men, women and children in the state. There were 77 firearms murders in DC in 2010, down 22% on 2009
• DC is followed by Louisiana (10.16) and Mississippi (7.46)
• DC is also top for firearms robberies per 100,000 people - with 242.56
• If you look at aggravated assaults involving a firearm, Tennessee (137.58) and South Carolina (127.88) come above Arkansas (100.56)

How come the left off CA and IL????

The veteran who wrote that letter to Feinstine said that England had a rate of 2.2 vs the U.S. of 1.2 violent crimes.

have to check the link but they don't have reporting from all states to get apples to apples as I recall.
I know from other sites Cali is very heavy on deaths (gang bangers are busy bees there and Il ? well just see the news every day for them.

Big cities (democrat run cities) are the ones with the most killings rape and violence and gun crimes

So true. We should document them. Lets see now....let me know if I missed any....

Detroit
Chicago
Newark
LA
Cleveland
Milwaukee
St. Louis
Cincinnati
Buffalo
Philadelphia

Now does anyone believe, if all those cities had been run by Rs for decades rather than Ds, the media would ignore the fact of one party rule. I think not. But, like so many things, liberals and Ds do not know what is going on because their media refuses to tell them the truth. Is it any wonder libs and Ds are terribly uninformed?

But they do know how to hate Fox News.:confused:o_O:confused:o_O

There is an old rule-of-thumb that's embraced by the best lawyers. That rule-of-thumb is, "Never ask a question in court for which you don't already know the answer, and Never make a claim in court that might be pointed-out as a serious error by your opposition"! I suggest that you adopt that rule yourself in the future in order to avoid public embarrassment.

In order to compare any two or more statistics, it's wise to compare them on some EQUAL basis. Total number of gun deaths in multiple States must be compared on some Equal basis. As Dogtowner noted in his post, gun-deaths per-100,000 population is one such Equal Basis.

You're generally correct that the 10 States you mentioned have less-strict laws than most States. The least-strict of those States you listed is Alaska, with a gun-law-strictness rating of "0". That means that the gun-control laws there are as lax as Brady-Bill advocates believe is possible. The gun-death rate in Alaska is 2.24 per-100,000 population. You should note, however, that California is the highest ranked State from the standpoint of gun-law strictness (rated 81 out of 100), and the gun-death rate in California is 3.25 per-100.000 population, 45% greater than Alaska's!

The State of Utah is also ranked as "0" by Brady-Bill advocates, and the gun-death rate in Utah is .97 per-100,000! California experiences gun deaths at a rate that's more than 200% greater than Utah!

As you might guess, the States having the highest ratings for gun-law strictness are Blue States. Those States in order of their gun-law strictness are in order of strictest to less strict (81 high for California to 26 for Pennslvania) are California, New Jersey, Massachussetts, New York, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Rhode Island, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

The combined gun-death rate for the 10 somewhat Red States you listed is 2.72. The combined gun-death rate for the top-ten Blue States I listed is 2.74. There is no statistical difference between gun-law strictness and gun-death rates. I strongly suspect we'll find statistical significance between gun-death rates and some OTHER variable, but that variable is NOT the strictness nor laxness in gun-control laws!

Next time, it would be wise to adopt the old Lawyer's rule-of-thumb. Don't make a claim or a strong inference of certainty when don't know for certain that you're correct. Remember those Washington and Jefferson quotes? ;)
