But, don't take my word.

Ask a REPUBLICAN!!!!

:p

"Federal stimulus dollars have begun to flow, initiating an "amazing" number of projects and creating jobs, Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) said Wednesday.

Snowe was one of three Republicans to support passage of the $787 billion stimulus package and has taken a beating from conservatives for doing so. But now that the checks are going out, she said, people can feel the benefits.

It's "paramount [for people] to see that activity, creating jobs or averting job losses," she said.

"Even those who were opposed to the stimulus spending will see some of the projects that are underway in their communities as they're initiated," she added. "I've just been meeting with a lot of municipal officials and really it is amazing the number of projects that are getting under way."

"Caution reasserted itself on Wall Street, sending stocks down sharply but not enough to stop the market from notching its third straight weekly advance."

...Yes, you did... But 3 RINO's (Republican In Name Only) helped.

Even the CBO said there would "some" short term benefits to the massive, bloated, wasteful porkulus package but it would cause the economy to sink in the long run due to the unprecidented debt being rung up by the administration.

Obama has spent more in just 60 days than Bush was able to spend in 8 years.

Where is my "since the debt doesn't matter thread" when you need it?

....At least, it looks that way.....

It is that way... Obama has still chosen to keep all our unfunded liabilities, promised funds, off the "official" books as well. Probably because he knows that if the American people saw that our nation were around 60 trillion in the hole, we'd not allow any more spending to take place... which would mean Obama couldn't funnel taxpayer funds to organizations who support him under the guise of it being a "stimulus" package.

LOL, you called me a Bush Fan... Its usually the 911 conspiracy theorists who call me that when I tell them how full 'o shat they are... Must be a reaction that all conspiracy theorists have when confronted with reality.

On a side note... You now openly support Socialists... and you're a supporter (parrot drone) of Obama... What a shock.

Show me (where someone's proven that).

I've got plenty-of-time.....waiting for Lil' Chippy's names o' pot-addicts, as well.

Sure thing Mr. Socialist,

http://www.cbo.gov/

Its right there on the front page... showing 12-13 trillion in debt... What its not showing are our governments unfunded liabilities... Why didn't Obama include those while he was lumping the military debt into his budget? Because American's would shat themselves if they understood how deep the hole goes.

Taxpayers on the hook for $59 trillion

Thats from USA TODAY, hardly a right wing publication, and its also from 2007... We've acrued much, much more in unfunded liabilities since then.

Like I said.....

"Over the past eight years, the Pentagon has developed a pattern of requesting war spending through supplemental bills, which are not included in the general defense budget, making the defense budget look much smaller than it is, even as it grows. This is why the $611 billion authorization bill looks so huge: it includes both war and nonwar defense costs, which aren't grouped together in any other single bill.

Moreover, Sharp noted that the Pentagon regularly inserts war-related funding into its general defense budget, and tacks general defense costs, like new equipment, onto the supplemental bills that are used to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This type of messy budgeting can conceal skyrocketing military expenditures, many of which are unnecessary, according to Sharp."

You have nothing of value to say... Why don't you care that our government has been doing this with entitlements for more than a half century? Do you really think Clinton had the cost of his military actions in Serbia, Mogadishu and elsewhere around the world included in his budget? Of course not, he "hid" the costs the exact same way.

Those of us who actually pay attention government have known for years that they have multiple sets of books, a practice that you or I would be jailed for doing. Government keeps multiple accounting books in order to more easily "cook" them, Enron style, by shifting money around... sometimes to hide it and sometimes to show it.

If you are trully happy about this expediture being lumped in with the regular budget, then you should join me in demanding the goverment keep ONE set of books that reflects all of governments accounting activities. Additionally, you should also join me in calling for all bills to contain only amendments and expenditures germane to the bill. End the practice of having war funding stuffed inside a Farm bill and Farm Subsidies stuffed inside a bill to fund the war.

I have a question. If it's working so wonderfully why do I continue see how unemployment is going up in the news cycle every day? Lets say that in some states like maine it is giving a boost due to some projects. What happens when the money is gone and the little project is over....oh yeah thats right.....unemployment goes up again, and we're back at the beginning. No problem we'll just put together yet another stimulus.

Well the truth is any Stim Package takes time to build momentum.

What we are starting to see is not so much the actual Stim Package itself yet as the start of a bounce in confidence because things are being seen as getting done to try and help the overall situation. So you could say it's the Stim Package starting to help by creating more consumer & investor confidence. That's one reason why the Stock Market is starting to make some gains again.

So it's to be expected that there will still be some set backs but I believe the housing market has bottomed out... the Fed/Treasury plans are now in place and confidence will continue to be on the rise.

Might just want to note this so you remember I did say it early on... By the middle of 2010 things will be a whole lot brighter on the economic front.;) By then the jobs programs will have had a good amount of time to really dig in.

To answer your question about what happens after President Obama's jobs program starts to wind down...

The answer is... just as in the Great Depression a jobs program is only an economic bridge through seriously terrible economic times. It keeps more people working and in kind buying things themselves and paying for services themselves... as well as paying taxes and not just falling on general relief.

The economy along with the housing market and Stock Market will rebound and private sector job growth will go up again thus replacing the works programs jobs as they wind down.

America is the greatest nation on earth and Americans in general are smart & very resourceful in trying times. And the President is really trying to do what's best. He's not perfect but by God he's trying!

The rebound is starting... let's have a little faith in each other. Democrat, Republican or Independent we're all Americans and we ALL do care about each other and our families.

You have nothing of value to say... Why don't you care that our government has been doing this with entitlements for more than a half century?
Ah, yes....the ol' change-o'-subject tactic (after gettin' your butt kicked).

I'm shocked.

Yeah, right.....because, after all, everyone who's been directly-involved (in those little-projects) automatically eats their paychecks.....because that makes so-much-more-sense than to buy a car, or new appliances, or clothing, etc.

Yeah.....we were much-better-off in the last two Bush economic-debacles.

Democrat controlled congress now - Economy sucks Obama Pres
Democratic controlled congress - Economy sucked Last 2 yrs of Bush Terms
Republican controlled congress - Economy good Clinton Yrs

It's the congress that writes the budgets and not the president.

And Pelosi has been doing a piss poor job since she and her dem buddies has gotten the majority power in both parts of the congress.

Again I ask....what happens when stim money is gone, and the government money dries up. Another stim package?
