oh wait, there IS !

Seems the military has been unleashed on the American people in the form of USAF drones doing recon on US. Seems someone has decided that the Posse Comitatus Act protects us from this.

As the Federal Aviation Administration helps usher in an age of drones for U.S. law enforcement agencies, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s) domestically by the U.S. military — and the sharing of collected data with police agencies — is raising its own concerns about possible violations of privacy and Constitutional law, according to drone critics.

A non-classified U.S. Air Force intelligence report obtained by KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO dated April 23, 2012, is helping fuel concern that video and other data inadvertently captured by Air Force drones already flying through some U.S. airspace, might end up in the hands of federal or local law enforcement, doing an end-run around normal procedures requiring police to obtain court issued warrants.

“We’ve seen in some records that were released by the Air Force just recently, that under their rules, they are allowed to fly drones in public areas and record information on domestic situations,” says Jennifer Lynch, an attorney with the San Francisco based Electronic Frontier Association, who is looking into various government surveillance techniques.

“This report noted that they are able to collect that information and then determine whether or not they can keep it.”

The EPA is already using them to spy on those evil Farmers and Ranchers, watching how much their cows poop and how much dust the tractors kick up into the air.

Drones can take aerial pictures for proof of whatever, they have infra-red technology and GPS tracking. They can also report back to which ever agency is using them for what ever purpose.

Big Brother is getting too big for his pants.

Yes i agree why isnt the ACLU challeging this to the U.S Supreme court? Just like stores cant put cameras in bathrooms but they put cameras in fitting rooms

yes but EPA is not the military. the act prohibits only the military.

You missed the point what shes talking about. The EPA is using this as a spying act. And when George Bush used illegal wiretapping the left gets so upset over this. But the left isnt getting upset with the EPA spying on farmers. And the ACLU wont get involved wanna know why? They only protect women and minorities.

no, I didn't miss the point. there is no law against what the EPA is doing (investigating). they've been doing it with satellites for years. there are laws regarding wiretaps which the left tried to claim were being abused but were found to not be. you might be surprised to know that the ACLU has ventured outside the realm of popular opinion many times although not as often as they might.

Just like the Supreme Court just said you cannot sue your phone company for giving infomation to federal government. They came someone filed a lawsuit against AT&T for providing info to federal government under the Bush admin.

The ACLU is a group of lawyers that go around drumming up and inventing business. Did you know they were started by Communists? They've used "separation of church and state" to drum up business by suing local and state governments (paid for by you and me) to feather their nests and influence laws and law makers. There are a lot of special interest groups like that, using laws they helped to get passed, to build up an influential organization. We need serious tort reform in this country, lawyers are a big reason it costs so damn much to live here.

Well look at this case. There was a woman whos boss told her to wear a dress to work. And she refused too. Her boss told her 3 times to wear a dress to work she kept on wearing slacks to work. Her boss fired her ,,She runs to the ACLU and they won her case and got her job back. Mel Feit was protesting on Morton Downey JR show a guy wearing a dress in a protest of the system. Mel Feit was angry whern he read that in the paper on a woman getting her job by by the ACLU. So he decided to challenge the system,,He wore his wifes dress to an excutive board meeting. His female boss fired him on innopropreate dress code he ran to the ACLU guess what?? They wont take his case. You see they only protect women and minorities.

Well that really wasn't the same thing. And why would the man get himself fired from his job just to protest what that woman had done? That just doesn't compute, but even so, two wrongs don't make a right. The employer should be able to set dress codes in his business, and the ACLU needs to mind it's own business.

Thats why the ACLU isnt for equal rights like they say they are. Theyre for women and minorities.

The drone belongs to the military and was operated by the military on domestic soil. Then the data was given to the EPA which used it without first getting a warrant. Seems to me that the separation between the miliarty and the domestic police forces is blurred.

ok if it was a military operated drone then its the same as the USAF one doing direct recon.

New Tracking Frontier: Your License Plates

For more than two years, the police in San Leandro, Calif., photographed Mike Katz-Lacabe's Toyota Tercel almost weekly. They have shots of it cruising along Estudillo Avenue near the library, parked at his friend's house and near a coffee shop he likes. In one case, they snapped a photo of him and his two daughters getting out of a car in his driveway.
Mr. Katz-Lacabe isn't charged with, or suspected of, any crime. Local police are tracking his vehicle automatically, using cameras mounted on a patrol car that record every nearby vehicle—license plate, time and location.
"Why are they keeping all this data?" says Mr. Katz-Lacabe, who obtained the photos of his car through a public-records request. "I've done nothing wrong."
