The basic FACTS remain.
1. There was no sense of palestinian statehood since the ottoman empire. All this talk about a palestinian state started when the jews came to palestine from centuries old diaspora and established a nation of their own.
2. Prior to the formation of the igrun, the declaration of independence of the state of israel, and the consequent arab-israeli war, no less than the imam in jerusalem, as well as the various arabs leaders, ARE ON RECORD CALLING FOR THE ANNIHILATION OF THE JEWS.
3. The entire arab world, including the palestinians themselves, FLATLY REJECTED the two state solution proposed by the un in 1948. THEY ARE ON RECORD, STATING THAT ANY SOLUTION THAT WOULD NOT HAND OVER THE PALESTINIAN MANDATE, IN ITS ENTIRETY, IN ARAB HANDS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
4. The combined armies of egypt, syria, iraq, jordan and lebanon INVADED THE PALESTINIAN MANDATE SHORTLY AFTER THE DECLARATION OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL FOR THE EXPRESS INTENTION OF MASSACRING THE JEWS.
5. The arabs were roundly DEFEATED in this war which resulted in the occupation of israel of territories in the mandate SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER THAN WHAT THE UN ORIGINALLY PROPOSED -- THE SAME PROPOSAL WHICH THE ARABS REJECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
6. After decades of conflict, the palestinians themselves CONTINUE TO MAKE DEMANDS AS A PRE-CONDITION FOR THEIR OWN STATE -- DEMANDS THAT ARE SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE IN VIEW OF THEIR VIOLENT TENDENCIES TOWARDS ISRAEL.
7. In return for such outrageous demands, they are NOT EVEN WILLING TO LAY DOWN THEIR ARMS AND SIT IN A NEGOTIATING TABLE IN GOOD FAITH.
Imagine that!!! The independent state of israel is being demanded to bend backwards, against the security of its own people, so as to accomodate the formation of the palestinian state -- the SAME goat-herders sworn to israel's destruction! What ***** would agree to such ludicrous nonsense, is, quite frankly, beyond me.
