When I was a child in the 1950's, it was common knowledge that printing money caused inflation.

A good example is the Wiemer Republic in the 1920's.

Since the 2008 financial crisis, NATO governments have been printing HUGE amounts of money.

Now we have roaring inflation.

Mysteriously, most of the talking head economists ( not a marxist or socialist among them ) are not linking these
two facts, preferring to blame..wait for it..the WORKERS and of course...RUSSIA.

Two economist/historians with a better grip on the facts are

The current wave of inflation is caused by price gouging by the international corporations. They charge what they think they can get away with, in the name of profits and paying stock holders. That is why this inflation is world wide.

Really? Wow.

Inflation is caused by printing money.

Who has been printing money since 2008.

The reason it is now a major issue is the finance industry has run out of wheezes to keep the money
in their orbit.

The really bad inflation has been in house prices, but of course, they are never mentioned in official inflation stats

It's not just printing money that causes inflation, it's creating money without the production capacity to meet consumer demands. If we have too much money in the economy with little production, that creates inflation. The budgetary constraints of the US federal government are set by our GDP. If we go above that, it can and often does create inflation. If however our government prints money and allocates those funds for infrastructural development or social programs that improve public health and education, which increases our nation's production capacity i.e. GDP, we can print more money. So printing more money isn't necessarily the problem, it's how we use the money that determines whether printing more money will cause or increase inflation.

The current inflation is due primarily to bottlenecks in our supply system, undermining the logistics of commerce. A lot of people don't want to subject themselves anymore to the austerities and tyranny of the capitalist workplace. People are opting out of the capitalist-run economy, by not seeking to work for wages. They're looking for other avenues of revenue. Companies in their effort to recover the losses they had during the pandemic are skimping on investing in their employees/exploitees, creating unbearable conditions in the workplace due to lack of resources. Sure they might pay more, but even then it's not worth it, due to the work conditions.
