US intelligence indicates that only 30-35 percent of Hamas fighters have been killed since October 7, and around 65% of the terror group’s tunnels are still intact, Politico reports.

The outlet also says that US officials believe that Hamas has recruited thousands of new members in recent months

If this is even remotely true it means Israel's approach, defended by several right wing morons here, has been a bad choice. Hamas is still viable, hostagescarecdead or still held, innocent people still dying... the war has been a fiasco

Israel cannot destroy Hamas. It would be good if they could, but they cannot and will not. Every innocent Palestinian they kill causes at least one more Palestinian to become actively hostile toward Israel.

Netanyahu was happy to have Hamas rule Gaza, because Hamas is also against a two state solution... just like Netanyahu opposes a two state solution. But he did not properly defend his borders and the Oct 7 attack happened, and now he wants to end Hamas, but he cannot. He would like to make Gaza uninhabitable so that the Gazans will go elsewhere. But there is nowhere to send them.

Incidentally, after the Oct 7 massacre, 500,000 Israelis left Israel.

Who will rule Gaza once Israel stops fighting? I do not think that the IDF can rule Gaza effectively. They tried that once before, and it did not work.

Of COURSE Biden wants this war to end. No one wants war, but Biden also wants to be reelected.
