1. WASHINGTON—Three researchers from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology became sick enough in November 2019 that they sought hospital care, according to a previously undisclosed U.S. intelligence report that could add weight to growing calls for a fuller probe of whether the Covid-19 virus may have escaped from the laboratory.

The details of the reporting go beyond a State Department fact sheet, issued during the final days of the Trump administration, which said that several researchers at the lab, a center for the study of coronaviruses and other pathogens, became sick in autumn 2019 “with symptoms consistent with both Covid-19 and common seasonal illness.”

The disclosure of the number of researchers, the timing of their illnesses and their hospital visits come on the eve of a meeting of the World Health Organization’s decision-making body, which is expected to discuss the next phase of an investigation into Covid-19’s origins....

November 2019 is roughly when many epidemiologists and virologists believe SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind the pandemic, first began circulating around the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where Beijing says that the first confirmed case was a man who fell ill on Dec. 8, 2019....

2. Bingo! The three reporters seem to believe they have hit the jackpot in the discovery of "Patient Zero" in Wuhan Institute of Virology. Unfortunately for them, there were many others who had been struck by a mysterious illness in Wuhan and elsewhere in October or even earlier.

Instead of cooking up a stale story from an old conspiracy theory by the self-declared ex-president and his henchmen, the three reporters should look elsewhere for better "recipes" which might lead them to "Patient Zero".

(A) The coronavirus outbreak could have started as early as mid-September, and the Chinese city of Wuhan may not be where it began, a scientist looking at the origins of the disease has said.

Geneticist Peter Forster, from the U.K.'s University of Cambridge, is leading a research project to understand the historical processes that led to the COVID-19 pandemic...

He said it is possible the outbreak did not originate in Wuhan, as until January 17, almost all the isolates were type B...

(B) An investigative study on coronavirus revealed that Covid-19 was circulating in Italy by September 2019, months before the first documented case was reported in China’s Wuhan, as per media reports.

The research was carried by the scientists at Milan’s National Cancer Institute (INT)....

(C) ....In France, a cluster of cases was discovered in late January.

But a new study published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents has suggested the virus was already in the country a month earlier.

A retrospective analysis of samples taken from 14 intensive care patients with influenza-like symptoms at the Avicenne and Jean-Verdier hospitals in Paris found one positive COVID-19 case -- a 42-year-old French resident who had not visited China. He was hospitalised on December 27.

Olivier Bouchaud, head of the infectious diseases department at Avicenne said at first the virus spreads "quietly in the population, without anyone detecting its presence"......

Other countries are discovering they may have had earlier infections. In the United States, autopsies performed on suspicious deaths in California have revealed infections before the first official case on January 21....

(D) More athletes have revealed that they fell ill during the Military World Games in October when the Chinese city of Wuhan hosted the event months before the COVID-19 outbreak.

Taking place in October, the allegations came two months before the first identification of COVID-19 by China.

Close to 10,000 competitors competed at the Games from over 100 countries during the nine-day event....

(E) In October 2019, the US brought 172 (really 369) military athletes to Wuhan for the World Military Games. Despite having the largest military in the world, tenfold, the US came in 35th behind nations like Iran, Finland and Slovenia. No video or photos exist of the US team, no records were kept, a huge team but a pitiful performance for the best military in the world.

(F) WASHINGTON – Less than a month before data shows the first Chinese citizen became ill with coronavirus, nearly 300 members of the U.S. military, Department of Defense, and support personnel attended the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan, China. When the games ended, they returned to at least 219 home bases in 25 states, without ever being screened for possible COVID-19 infection....

Athletes who participated from other nations—both U.S. allies like France and Italy and adversaries like Iran—have reported suffering from COVID-19 symptoms. Some Iranian athletes died from COVID-19, including some who were in Wuhan, according to news reports not verified by Tehran.

The Pentagon’s reluctance to test athletes returning from Wuhan was not unique. No other nation’s military appears to have tested their participants in the 2019 World Military Games specifically for COVID-19. French doctors examined their athletes upon their return from the games as part of overall exams.

When asked why the athletes and support staff who had been in China were not screened as a precaution once the COVID-19 threat was known in January, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said at the end of an April 14 press conference: “I am not aware of what you are talking about.”...

(G) Chinese medical staff went to the Dongfang Jianguo hotel to rescue five American military participants who were suffering from high fevers, shallow coughs, and chest pains.

Once retrieved from the Dongfang Jianguo hotel they were sent to the Wuhan hospital. There, their symptoms were recorded, some treatment provided and they were immediately evacuated to the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.

They were then picked up by a special US military airplane to evacuate them to the US.

After the American military contingent left China, the hotel staff started to come down with an illness.

In all, 42 employees of the Oriental Hotel were diagnosed with COVID-19, becoming the first cluster in Wuhan.

(H) (a) After the American military participants returned to the US, nothing is heard about them anymore just like rocks dropping into the ocean. The US authorities refuse to answer any question about them. Nobody, except the US authorities, knows whether they are dead or alive.

(b) After everything gets back to normal, the US will have many questions to answer about the series of mysterious illness in the US in 2019.

(c) The US must explain to the world why its team fared so disgracefully in the 2019 World Military Games instead of "Making America Great Again (MAGA)".

(d) The US must answer the unanswered question of the five US soldiers who were down with high fevers, shallow coughs and chest pains in Wuhan late October last year.

(e) The US should have known the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan as early as late October 2019 because the Pentagon rushed the five sick soldiers back to the US without waiting for them to recover in a Wuhan hospital.

(f) The US must let all countries (including China of course) gain access to all US labs over coronavirus outbreak.

(g) CDC estimates that from October 1, 2019 through April 4, 2020 there have been 24,000 – 62,000 flu deaths. Were all those deaths really due to flu? Could it be possible for those so-called flu viruses to mutate into something more deadly?

(I) The coronavirus is mutating, but you shouldn't freak out about it.

Mutation is part of any virus's life cycle, and the novel coronavirus is no different.

(J) (i) The coronavirus has proved to be smarter and more cunning than Sunzi, Carl von Clausewitz, Thucydides, Alexander Magnus, Hannibal Barca, Saladin, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, David IV of Georgia, George S. Patton, Erwin Rommel and other military strategists or tacticians.

Perhaps many lives in the world could have been saved had the coronavirus unleashed fire and fury at the very beginning in Wuhan, Italy, France or elsewhere like the virulent strain that is currently ravaging India. Then nobody would dismiss it as a common flu and act with complacency that it would go away eventually. In fact, as late as February 28, 2020, the self-declared Messiah ex-president even dismissed it as a "hoax".

(J) (ii) President Donald Trump said Democrats are using the virulent coronavirus as a “hoax” to damage him and his administration. “The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” he said from a campaign rally in North Charleston, South Carolina. “One of my people came up to me and said ‘Mr. President they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didn’t work out too well.’ They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax that was on a perfect conversation,” he continued. “This is their new hoax,” he said, referring to the coronavirus.

(J) (iii) Instead of howling with ferocity like what it is doing in India now, the coronavirus had acted initially like a wolf in sheep's clothing in Wuhan and elsewhere, catching many people completely off guard.

Anyway, the “Me First” ex-president seemed to have learned a lesson from the coronavirus. In his final days at the White House, he struck with fire and fury at his adversaries at home and abroad like the Indian variant of coronavirus.
