Oi, my name is Andrei, and in full Andrei Mazenov, just in case there weren't any previous hints...:D ... so, I'm here to debate and discuss and learn and teach and make friends and make enemies and all that other stuff we do on these here forums. I am a member of the Socialist Labor Party of America and accordingly subscribe to the ideology entitled Marxism-De Leonism. Here's some sources before you freak out and yell at me about Mao and Stalin and other petty excuses for human beings:

Wikipedia- De Leonism
SLP- What is Socialism? (or, What do we advocate?)
Daniel De Leon Internet Archive

In short, I am not the stereotypical "Communist" and I am strongly opposed to such. On social and civil issues, I may in fact have some common ground with Capitalists here; we De Leonists are few and are in my opinion the most reasonable and realistic Socialists out there; give the links I gave a skim and you may be less afraid of me, as I assure you North Korea, China, and the Soviet Union are not my ideas of ideal societies at all. Maybe my membership here can be a learning experience for all of us. I will gladly give information to all who ask, so PM me all you like. I am looking to begin a blog in the near future so I'll get back to you guys when I do.

I hope to learn much, post much, and maybe make a few new Socialists in the process, and I eagerly look forward to meeting you all on the forums.

How does this theory define right from wrong?

I, personally, and most of my branch of the SLP, advocates a Radical-Democratic (or Direct-Democratic) society of People's Councils. Therefore, the people as a whole would define right from wrong and accordingly outlaw what has been proven harmful to the community. I am no Anarchist, I believe in policing and a governing body to some extent, but I wish for economic Marxism, proletarian rights, and a governing body made up of the people, rather than politicians.

I find myself somewhere in the middle (somehow) of socialism and libertarianism. I believe in a smaller government that focuses on helping the poor and redistributing the wealth, whilst not infringing upon peoples rights and letting them get on with life.

Anything further left of socialism promises personal freedom, but in fact in the name of common good and society, restricts personal freedom. I don't like that. Anything further right than mild libertarianism leaves minorities, the sick and dependant and the poor out in the cold and to fend for themselves, the people who can fend for themselves the least.

Hi Andrei and welcome. :)

It seems to me that socialism is getting a little more respect lately, or at least there don't seem to be as many people willing to dismiss it out of hand.

Even though the politicians are evil/dodgy/incompetent, are the people best equipped to run the show?.....wouldn't it be wiser to hand the whole thing over to genuine philosophers who've been advocates of proper ethics and justice...?

It would seem to me that no matter how you physically structure your NWO, without proper ethics{the basis of all meaningful human interaction}, then you'd have the same thing structured differently.

You're really keen on a universal set of ethics aren't you? Are you a fan of Kantian ethics, rejecting the idea of situation and ultilitariansim ethics? Or do you accept that you need to have flexibility?

Haha keep telling yourself that if it helps you get through life.

Remember this comment you made?..........why bother attempting to discuss philosophy with someone who you think is full of crap....?

Well, let's see. The government governs the people, in their interests... who best to decide the people's interests than the people? Politicians and bourgeoisie cannot make the people's decisions because they aren't the ones most affected.

... Go count your money.

My NWO? What, are you like 12?

The proper ethics are the people's ethics. Moreover, this is not a question of morality but of social organization, thought intertwined in praxis but in concept seperate.

why bother attempting to discuss philosophy with someone who you think is full of crap....?

To debunk your BS, obviously.
